HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

First thing this morning, we worked on our morning assignment. We got together in Mrs. Johnson's room and read Hazel's Amazing Mother.  We also learned new spelling games on the iPad.

In reading today, we did our first response sheet for The Relatives Came.  We took our very first spelling test.  (Hope we did well!!!)  After the spelling test, Mrs. Johnson gave us dictation sentences. 

During our read-aloud, we heard another chapter of Sideways Stories from Wayside School.  It was all about Maurecia and her love for ice cream.

Mrs. Bruno said that we were supposed to do math centers on Fridays, but we skipped them this particular week because we were behind on some other things.  She PROMISED we'd have them next Friday.  We took a little quiz on the things we've worked on this week.  We had a guest math teacher!  His name was Mr. Nutting!  He was so very smart, and taught our children so much!  (Hee hee!!!!!!  He even had the "teacher pace" down pat!  See picture!)  Lastly, we learned two new games on the iPad.  They were SplashMath and Kakooma!!!!

Congrats to Carson Wideman (Bruno) and Finley Whisenhunt (Johnson) for being this year's first good citizens!!!!!!

Mrs. Bruno would like to thank everyone for the birthday flowers, cards, goodies, and gift card to the spa!!!  You made it a very special day!!!!  : )

Thursday, 8-29

Yesterday afternoon was so crazy that we didn't have time to blog (or even sign Husky Pads)!  Sorry!

Before special this morning, Mrs. Johnson called us to her room to learn about a spelling iPad game.  We had music and PE, then went to the computer lab for Mathletics.  We worked a word problem and talked about urban areas and suburbs

We had a great lunch and recess.  We did centers in Mrs. Johnson's room!!!!

Tuesday 8-27

This morning, we did math morning work.  It was decomposing 3-digit numbers!  A few of us went to Paine Primary Singers.  We saw a new website to monitor behavior.  We get stickers when we're on task and when we're not.  We learned about a math site we'll use in class and for homework called Mathletics.  We had our first round of Math Magician today.

In Mrs. Johnson's room we chose the right book for homework, and we are supposed to read that tonight.  We learned new centers, too.  We also got to write on dry-erase boards!

This afternoon, we had yummy snack and wrote on the blog!

Happy Friday!

We are excited that it's Friday!  We came in and worked on a secret message!  It was fun, but a little tricky.  Our favorite part of the day was when we went to recess.  The second we stepped on the playground, the bottom fell out!!!  We got SOAKED!!!!!  (But, it was also a little fun!)

We made little mathematicians during math.  They told what good mathematicians do and what math means to us!  We learned how to play "What's My Number?"

In Mrs. Johnson's room, we pretended to do centers to learn how to complete each one.  There's a silent reading center, a read with teacher center, and a word work center.

Lastly, we signed Husky Pads and ate snack!  It's been a fabulous first week of school!!!!

 

Thursday, 8/22

We did a crossword puzzle for our morning work.  Then, we had a group lesson in Mrs. Johnson's room.  Our math time today was finishing our math test.  We also got to work on our self-portraits.  We finished them in Mrs. Johnson's room after recess.  During language arts time we went over the monster stories that we began yesterday.  We also wrote on the dry erase boards.

 

First Day of Our New Blog

This morning we came in and completed our morning work.  It was handwriting practice and math fact practice.  We went to our first art class of the year.  It was great!!!!  Afterwards, we headed to PE.  We started our math class with a little quiz about what we learned in first grade.  We did the first three pages today.  We also looked at Mrs. Bruno's website to see how to find our class pictures and website links.  We played on Math Magician.  After recess, we swapped classes for the very first time.  We showed Mrs. Johnson that we knew how to do silent reading.  We did a writing workshop.

It was a great third day of school!!!!  :)
