Monday, 10/29

Today, like every Monday, has been crazy and scattered. We rushed to have Mrs. Johnson's class in here this morning, after taking our end-of-the-trimester fluency test. We worked on branching and government word problems, then studied government. There are three types of government: local, state, and national government. We learned that government provides things for us, BUT we have to pay taxes to have those things provided. Each type of government has their own taxes. Sadly, our internet has really given us trouble today. We've had trouble blogging this morning, AND Ustream has gone down over and over. We're sorry if you were trying to watch us!!! Have a great day!!!! : )

Wednesday, Oct. 24

We didn't get to blog yesterday because we were on a field trip. We had lots of fun and saw lots of interesting birds. Today, we came into the room and invited Mrs. Johnson's class over for morning work. We did "It All Adds Up." Mrs. Bruno really likes those puzzles. After Mrs. Johnson's class went back to their room, we did Math Magician and worked on addition with regrouping problems. We also completed some "Gus and Grandpa" word problems to go along with our reading story. After our word problems, we pulled out our science module and worked with equal-arm balances. We learned what would make the balance work and what would make it tilt to one side or the other. We also related the equal-arm balance to a particular math symbol we use all of the time . . . THE EQUAL SIGN!!!!! : )

10-11-12

We really like today's cool date!! :) When Mrs. Johnson's came this morning, we read and discussed a biography on Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon. We had great discussions about space, the earth, and the moon. We talked about rockets and determined how old Mr. Armstrong was when he landed on the moon. We also determined his age when he died a couple of months ago. Using a map, we found the state where he was born and died. We also located other places of importance, like Southern California (where he got his master's degree) and Florida (where he launched into space). In math, we continued Math Magician and branching. Then, we did our word problems and learned about what makes us have seasons. It's been a great day. We can't wait to visit the nursing home tonight!!!!! : )

Icky Monday

It's a chilly, yucky Monday, but we're having a good day in second grade. Mrs. Johnson is sick today, and we hope she's feeling better soon!!!!! The first thing we did this morning was to read Molly the Owl: The True Story of a Common Barn Owl That Ends up Being Not So Common After All. Then, we took a look at Sydney in her box. We took our normal Monday timed math test and started a new type of branching. Now, we're SUBTRACTING!!!! Yea!!!! After math, we observed and recorded what had happened in our evaporation experiment. We moved on to talk about our favorite subject, science! We're talking about what makes day and night for the next couple of days. Our reading story will go along with that. We're looking forward to a great week!

Friday, October 5, 2012

It's Friday!!! :)

Happy Friday! We're excited about the weekend! Mrs. Johnson's class came over and we introduced today's math centers. We looked at Mel and Sydney's camera, but no one was home. However, in the chat room, lots of people wanted to say hello to us!!! (Don't worry, it's a super safe chat room that is policed by a moderator!!!) We also looked at a new camera today, called the Shamu Cam. It's Mrs. Bruno's fave!!! : ) We know how much she loves her killer whales! After that, we did centers in our room, then went to Mrs. Johnson's room. We had snack before 11:00, and we're waiting on a visitor to come and do a fun activity right now!!! Her name is Mrs. Hutchens! We hope this activity is fun! Have a good weekend!

Wednesday, October 3, 2012

October 3, 2012

Happy Wednesday! For morning work, we did condensation word problems, then checked them with Mrs. Johnson's. While they were in here, we learned how to play Kakooma on the iPad and "It All Adds Up" math game. When we began math, we did Math Magician and learned a new strategy. We've conquered all those silly 9s problems by using the "9 Shortcut." We're ready for any 9s problem you throw at us!!! : ) We branched a couple of problems before moving on to science. After today's science lesson, we're all ready to be weather boys and weather girls!!!! Watch out, James Spann!!! We now know the names of meteorlogists' tools and how to use them!!!! We're sad that we can't go to the playground today, but we're excited about the new shades we'll be getting. We may go to the courtyard, or we may play the Wii!

Tuesday, October 2, 2012

October 2, 2012

Happy Tuesday (especially since we didn't get around to blogging for a Happy Monday). Yesterday, being early-dismissal-Monday, we didn't have time to blog. Mrs. Johnson's friends came over, and we played "Find That Number" on the 100s chart. We also added 2-digit numbers. Sadly, the rain kept us from going to recess, but we played the Wii instead. Today, we used the Math Studies Weekly to work on place value. Then . . . we headed to the dreaded computer lab for Global Scholar. It worked only SLIGHTLY better than last week. This time, it took over 90 minutes, but we finally all completed the test. Poor Canaan and Will were kicked off the internet about 20 times altogether. The rest of us were only kicked off about 15 times. : ) It was not a fun time!!! We won't be taking this test again until CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Friday, September 28, 2012

Sept. 28th

Happy Friday! We got in the classroom, unpacked, and did word problems for morning work. Mrs. Johnson's friends came over and we introduced today's centers. We took data on our experiment and recorded it in a chart. We also took a look at this week's biography. It was about Marian Anderson, who was a talented singer. She was born in 1892, in Pennsylvania. She wasn't allowed to sing in a theatre because of her race. But, the First Lady at the time, Eleanor Roosevelt, arranged a concert for her in front of the Lincoln Memorial. We even watched the concert on YouTube. In math, we did a science center, a computer center, an iPad center, and worked with Mrs. Bruno. In science, we learned the four main types of clouds: cumulus, stratus, cirrus, and nimbus. Now, when we make cloud observations, we'll know what to call them!!!!! Have a happy weekend!!!

Wednesday, September 26, 2012

Sept. 26

When we came in this morning and read while Mrs. Bruno checked Husky Pads. Mrs. Johnson's class came in and worked on Math Studies Weekly: Add and Subtract. We did Math Magician and worked on our "Making Tens" strategy. We reviewed our solids and liquids unit and moved into the water cycle. We learned that water travels in a cycle and that there is always the exact same amount of water on Earth. We learned the steps of the water cycle using a song. We know what evaporation, condensation, and precipitation mean and can sing you the song! We also went outside to observe clouds. We'll talk about them later this week! It was time for snace and heading to Mrs. Johnson!

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

Sept. 25, 2012

When we came in today, we started morning work on a word problem. After checking Husky Pads, Mrs. Johnson's class came over and learned about Socrative. Socrative is a computerized test, and we practiced taking a funny test. We headed to the computer lab for, what we thought would be, fun. No such luck!!!! It was a bad day in the lab. We waited, waited, waited, and then we waited. For the entire 45 minutes we were trying to take Global Scholar, the computer continued to freeze!!! So, we finally headed back to the room and learned another fact fluency skill . . . making ten. This should help us on our fact fluency homework each night. NO MORE FINGER COUNTING!!! : ) Then it was yummy snack time!!!!

Monday, September 24, 2012

September 24, 2012

Happy Monday! We're excited to be back at school! The moment we came into the classroom we began to work hard. We copied spelling words and wrote sentences, too. We tried to get as many as possible completed so we do less for homework. Mrs. Johnson's class came over, and Mrs. Bruno introduced our new math topic . . . branching!!!!! YEAAAAAAAA!!!! We experiment with liquids this morning, and we tried to use their properties to tell what they were. We looked at detergent, hand soap, corn syrup, water, colored water, cooking oil, and fabric softener. In math, Ms. Veigas taught us a math lesson while her professor observed her. We worked with white boards and base 10 blocks. We will continue to work with these skills for many, many weeks to come!!!!

First Day of Our New Blog

Today, we will begin blogging with our new 2nd grade class. We have already had a great start to the year, and we know it will just keep getting better. Mrs. Bruno said she would change the picture on the blog . . . because THAT IS NOT OUR CLASS!!! We also began something else new today. We started our weekly trips to the red hall computer lab. We worked on IXL today, and Mrs. Bruno said we'll do many other things, as well. We smiled pretty for our class pictures today. No one broke the camera cause we're all pretty and handsome! : ) Sadly, because of the computer lab and pictures (and some serious internet outages), we've struggled to accomplish much else so far. We'll do better tomorrow. Tomorrow will be time for math centers, and we have a test Friday! YIKES!

PROBLEMS WITH BLOG Sadly, Blogger updated its site about 10 days ago, and our browser at school does not support this update. Therefore, we're unable to blog from school. I'm only able to blog from home, which doesn't help inform parents of what we are doing day-to-day. I'm working on resolving this problem. I'm hoping that we'll be back up and running soon. Stay tuned!!!! : )

This morning mrs.Johnson's class came over.We learned about time.then we learned about saving money.

Friday, April 6, 2012

We're Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Yes, this horrible teacher hasn't blogged in a MONTH!!!!! With my play on the other side, followed by spring break, which backed up to my science conference in Indianapolis, we've been way too busy and had way too many subs to be able to blog. I'm hoping we're back to normal now!!! :)

Congratulations to Ethan, this week's good citizen. We can always count on Ethan to be doing the right things at the right times. I love not having to correct him, and his friends love being able to count on him at all times. Way to go, Ethan!!!!

We're right in the middle of Boosterthon, and, boy, is it fun! Action Jackson came and spent the afternoon with us Wednesday. He read some of Oggie Cooder to us. He wanted to do the Burger Dance, too, but the bell rang too quickly. We're enjoying raising money for our school, and we can't WAIT for the Fun Run. We love jogging around that track to all of the fun music!!! Boosterthon Fun Run, here we come!!!!!!

In science, we tried raising caterpillars into butterflies. Sadly, our first group of caterpillars didn't make it. They ate the tissue paper in their cups, rather than their food, and most of them didn't live. We're on round two, and these seem to be doing a little better. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

We've been studying measurement in math, and it's been tons of fun. Wednesday we measured the fence around the playground to see what the perimeter measured. We also measured the black barricade that holds the bark. We used yardsticks to measure.

In social studies, we've been discussion needs vs. wants. We learned that we don't NEED that new Justice shirt or the expensive dirt bike . . . we just WANT them. We've learned that the only things we truly need are water, shelter, food, and clothes. Today, we talked about how adults have to have an INCOME to be able to pay for needs and wants. We also discussed the difference between producers and consumers. We learned that the PRODUCERS are the people who make or grow things to sell, while the CONSUMERS are the ones who buy those goods or services.

Today, we also were able to get back on our Friday centers schedule. We used the iPad, the computer, flashcards, and worked with Mrs. Bruno.

We're still loving viewing all of our favorite animals via webcam. We have sad news to report, though. Molly (of Molly and Magee) lost Magee and all four of her babies. We've learned that she has a new suitor, though, so maybe all is not lost for her. Sadly, two of Mel and Sydney's owlets also passed away. It's been a sad year for owl survival!!! Phoebe's eggs have hatched and are growing like little weeds!!! They're adorable. We're also enjoying watching the bald eagles from Decorah, Iowa. There are three eaglets, but we're worried that one might not make it. It's still chilly there, and the runt is not getting alot of the food due to its bully brothers or sisters!!!

Well, we hope that catches you up on the happenings in our room over the last few weeks! We've missed blogging, but we hope we're back with a vengence. The students are even going to go back to producing the blog, rather than Mrs. Bruno! Yea!!!! : )

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

Tuesday, February 28

Mrs. Parnell is doing her full-time teaching for the next two weeks!

Mrs. Johnson's class came over, and Mrs. Parnell read lots of caterpillar books. We read "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and "Life Cycle of the Monarch Butterfly." We also looked at some interesting pictures of butterflies from "The World of Nature" book about butterflies.

We worked on Math Magician today. We also worked on fractions. We practiced making the top number of fractions, as well as the bottom number. The bottom number is the total number of pieces in the whole. We made real fractions with sheets of paper. We practiced hlaves, thirds, and fourths. We also defined fraction terms in our notebooks.

Later, we completed a word problem about immigrants, which led us into our discussion about immigration. We watched a Schoolhouse Rock video called "Great American Melting Pot." It's about people coming to America looking for freedom and bringing with them their cultures, traditions, languages, etc.

Thursday, February 23, 2012

Thursday, February 23

Mrs. Johnson's class came over today and we discussed more about plane and 3D shapes. We even made some 3D shapes like pyramids, cubes, cones, cylinders, and tetrahedrons. We put some new words on a vocabulary page: face and edge.

Our last group finished Math Magician today. We began a poster project. It will show that we are experts on plane shapes and 3D shapes. Our daily word problem was about caterpillars today. It tricked us severely!!! We drew pictures of what we think caterpillars look like, as well as what we think the butterfly life cycle looks like. Then, we started a life cycle of a butterfly on a paper plate. We will finish it tomorrow!

Now we're eating snack and will head to PE in a few minutes. We also have a special today . . . art! Yippee!!!!!

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Wednesday, Feb. 22

This morning, Mrs. Johnson's class came over for a lesson. We discussed 3-dimensional shapes. We talked about the words face, edge, and corner. We found those attributes on some foam 3-d shapes.

During math, we practiced fluency with Math Magician, then did IXL in the computer lab. We also worked on butterly and caterpillar word problems. We did a KWL to record what we know and want to know about butterflies.

The classes made some cards for Julie Scardina. We'll finish them up in the next few days and send them to her to thank her for Skyping with us yesterday! :)

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Tuesday, February 21

This has been a strange day. We started out in Mrs. Johnson's room today. We read "The Bee" today for reading. We learned that a bee's wings flap 11,400 times per minute. We also read some nonfiction books. We discussed some robust vocabulary: thickened, attack, sealed, disappear, plentiful, pattern, crowd, role.

Tomorrow in Mrs. Johnson's room, we'll work with our nonfiction folders to write about our animals.

Today is our Skype with Julie Scardina. We look forward to asking her our questions and hearing what she has to say!!!! Our Skype will be on Ustream, and we'll try to add some pix to the blog! : )

Thursday, February 16, 2012

Thursday, February 16

Mrs. Rish's class visited for a sec this morning, then left quickly to go to their room. Today we studied symmetry. Symmetry means that you can split something and it'll be the same on both sides, just mirror imaged. We did a symmetry worksheet where we colored symmetrical houses. We watched Math Monsters about geometry and ate snack.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Wednesday, February 15.

Well, today is definitely more calm than yesterday. We're back on somewhat of a normal schedule.

After we got settled in, Mrs. Johnson's class came in and discussed the things that we'd do in the red hall computer lab. We also talked about Mel and Sydney and how we believe they're finished having eggs. Someone told Mrs. Bruno that the number of eggs that are laid depends upon the amount of prey available to catch. The less food to eat, the fewer eggs they'll have!

We practiced our math facts with Math Magician. Mrs. Bruno also told us that we got our iPad Monday. She's going to start using it in the classroom in a few days! :)

We headed to the computer lab to do Socrative, IXL (about congruent shapes), RazKids, and online geoboards. We practiced making similar and congruent shapes, which is a good thing because that's what our homework is Thursday night.

After the lab, we came back to eat snack and head to PE.

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

We're so excited about Valentine's Day!!! We brought our Valentine stuff and are ready for our party this afternoon! Kesler's mom even sent us goody boxes to put our things in.

We went through Math Magician to practice our math facts. We learned more about shapes after reading If You Were a Polygon yesterday and If You Were a Quadrilateral today. We've also learned the terms congruent and similar today and drawn examples of each.

Our most exciting part of the day was when the Mel and Sydney site put our names on their webcam welcoming us! We thought that was really cool!!!!

Thursday, February 9, 2012

Thursday, February 9

Wow, what a crazy few days we've had! Tuesday was our trip to Children's Theatre. The kids learned that Sacagawea was an Indian guide to Lewis and Clarke. They loved the show.

Yesterday, we introduced our geometry unit and took a "Shape Walk." We found every-day examples circles, squares, and rectangle.

Today is Kesler's birthday. We decided that if he wasn't good, all 20 of us got to give him 8 birthday spankings!!! : )

We went further in geometry today, learning about lines, line segments, vertices, and angles. We decided that, in flat shapes, the number of sides the object has is also the number of vertices and angles. We drew some shapes and determined their sides, vertices, and angles. We also learned about sliding, turning, and flipping those shapes!!!

Friday, February 3, 2012

Friday, February 3

Mrs. Johsson's class came over this morning. Mrs. Glover came down to see us, and we gave her the gift cards and money we'd collected for her. She was very happy, excited, and grateful. Our overall total collected ended up being more than $700!!! Yea!!!

We have a new face in our room! She's our student teacher, and her name is Mrs. Parnell. She is nice, and we're glad to have her!

Kamden is good citizen this week. Her friends say that she was a good friend this week, she improved, and she was quiet in the hall!

This morning, we reviewed all of the vertebrate groups we'd learned about so far. We also talked about our final group, fish. Fish are cold-blooded, live in water, and breathe with gills. We read "What is a Fish?" and "Fabulous Fishes."

In math, we did centers, like always on Fridays. We worked on double-digit addition/subtraction, Coin Bingo, and animal observations. We discussed the animal observations, then drew diagrams of the guppies and snails we observed. We'll make aquatic ecosystems next week!

Tuesday, January 31, 2012

Tuesday, January 31

This is the last day of January. We're sad to see it go!

This morning, Mrs. Johnson's class came over, and we reviewed yesterday's lesson on mammals by reading "Mammalabilia" by Douglas Florian. We also introduced today's topic, birds, by reading "Molly the Owl" by Eric Blehm. It's a book about two common barn owls, Molly and McGee, that Mrs. Bruno's classes used to watch on Ustream. That camera has been turned off, though.

In math, we practiced our math facts by doing Math Magician. We also worked on a pictograph sheet.

After math, we discussed birds further. We said that birds must have feathers and wings. They lay eggs, but not all of them fly. Some flightless birds are emus, ostriches, cassawaries, penguins, etc. We checked in on Phoebe and read "About Hummingbirds: A Children's Guide." We also watched Mel and Sydney for a few minutes, as well as the Jordan Lake bald eagles.

We are eating snack right now and are headed to PE. We did our blog once, but had some type of technical issue and had to type it all over again. :(

Monday, January 30, 2012

Monday, Jan. 30

This morning, Mrs. Johnson's class came over, and we began our study of vertebrates. We began with mammals. We read "Somewhere in the Ocean" and "Junior Buddy: A Jaguar's Tale." The second book was about the jaguar we saw in Mrs. Bruno's video of Belize.

We learned that mammals have hair or fur, breathe with lungs, give live birth, drink mom's milk, and are warm-blooded. We had deep discussions about whales, dolphin, sharks (even though they're not mammals), and jaguars.

In Mrs. Johnson's room, we read about dogs. We also worked on some questions that went with the story.

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

Wednesday, January 25

This morning, Mrs. Johnson's friends came over to watch Math Monsters with us. We're going to be studying about graphs, and they talked about collecting data. In math, we worked on more money word problems. In science, we talked extensively about our upcoming Skype with Julie Scardina. We're so excited. We even watched a 2:00 video that introduced us to her. We're about to have a strange homework assignment . . . to watch her and Jack Hanna on TV!!! We've never had that kind of homework before.

We also looked at some animal webcams. We watched the manatees in the Tampa Electric Company pool. We saw the barn owls, Mel and Sydney, who are about ready to lay eggs in their next clutch. We saw the hummingbird, Phoebe, who is sitting on a new nest. (She lays about six clutches a year, so she's ALWAYS sitting on a nest!)

We're excited about studying animals!!!!!

Friday, January 20, 2012

Friday, January 20

Congratulations to Sarah, our Good Citizen for the week. She's really improved her self-control in the hallway. She's learning to control her volume. Her classmates say she's awesome!

First thing this morning, Mrs. Johnson's class came over. We watched video of Mrs. Bruno's trip to a rainforest. We saw all of the animals from the book we read yesterday, The Great Kapok Tree, with the exception of the sloth. We also learned how to play Coin Bingo that would be one of our centers later today.

In math, we did centers. Center 1 was to meet with Mrs. Bruno and count real money. In center 2, we counted money flashcards. We went to the computer for Math Magician in Center 3. In center 4, we played Coin Bingo. Our favorite center was Bingo because it was fun and new.

We also did a tree pantomime to act out the life cycle of a tree. We really liked this activity. We're eating snack, and we're about to take our timed test. Yippee!!! :)

We're looking forward to the weekend, even though it will be very soggy and dreary!

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

Wednesday, January 18

We did a fun plants sheet to kick off the morning. We got our fact fluency folders first thing this morning. Mrs. Johnson's class came over to learn how to use them. We also previewed our Socrative quiz for today.

We headed to the red hall computer lab to take a math quiz on Socrative, then IXL money skills. If you finished in time, you got to go to Raz-Kids. This morning, we also did Math Magician. We planted bean seeds to test different soils and how the seeds would grow in each. We have a homework sheet to find four leaves. We'll compare and contrast the four leaves.

We're heading to PE after snack.

Tuesday, January 17

We're glad to be back after a long weekend. We enjoyed our day off, though.

We wrote our spelling words in our SCRIPTs this morning. Then Mrs. Johnson's class came over and read "Plants" on Science A-Z.

For math, we completed Math Magician and then rotated through centers. Center 1 was subtraction flashcards. Center 2 was counting money at our desks. Center 3 was money flashcards. We worked on the computer game "Powerlines" in Center 4.

In science, we learned about the job of leaves. They make food for plants by using air, water, and sunlight to make sugar and oxygen. We learned that plants don't need oxygen, so they give it off as waste. The interesting thing about what they give off as waste is that it's exactly what OUR bodies need!!!!! What our bodies give off as waste is what THEY need to make food! Hmmmmmmmmmm! I think we could be pretty good friends with plants! : )

Now, we're heading to PE when we finish our snacks!

Friday, January 13

This morning, Mrs. Johnson's class came over for some handwriting practice. We're about to begin the long process of learning to write in cursive. Carson was our good citizen this week because he has really practiced self-control this week. Way to go Carson!!!!

We worked on math centers today. Center 1 was to meet with Mrs. Bruno and practice counting money. Center 2 was to work on money word problems. Center 3 was to use money flashcards. Center 4 was to play a money game on the computer. We did really well. This was the first time we'd gotten to do centers since we've been back from Christmas.

We learned about stems today in science. We talked about the jobs of stems: to hold up the plant and to carry water and minerals to the plant. We talked about stems being different in different types of plants, but they all have the same jobs.

We're about to take our timed math test and head to PE.

Thursday, January 12

First thing this morning, we unpacked and made lunch choices. Mrs. Johnson's class came over and we talked about money and how to count it. We finished this week's Math Magician. Then, we learned how to use the money flashcards because we'll use them in centers tomorrow. In science, we talked about the parts of a plant. We highlighted the roots today and learned that their two important jobs are to bring water and minerals to the plant AND to anchor the plant in the ground.

We're eating snack now, and we're going to listen to some Gooney Bird!!!! Yea!!!! We're about to go to PE, too!

Wednesday, January 11

Mrs. Bruno has morning duty this week, so we see her before we even get to class. She's reading an "Olivia Sharp" book.

The first thing we did in our room this morning was to combine classes and work on number sense. We also reviewed subtraction with regrouping. We went to the red-hall computer lab and worked on a "soils" quiz and IXL. Our IXL skill was estimating sums. When we came back to the room, we watched a short George Washington Carver BrainPop, jr. We also read an online book about living and nonliving things. We had snack and headed to PE.

Tuesday, 1-10

We came in and did spelling ABC order as our morning work. Mrs. Johnson's class came in and talked about getting paid each day. We talked about how to earn and lose money. Mrs. Bruno's rule is that we are always to keep the fewest number of coins to equal our amount. That means that we'll often have to trade coins with Mrs. Bruno, better known as "THE BANK." We also learned what we could buy in our classroom with the money that we earn.

We had a special, unannounced visitor this morning. We were glad to see Dr. Hodge. She came and sat with us this morning for a few minutes to see how smart we were becoming!!!!

The classes helped to complete an "It All Adds Up" sheet. We like these because we really have to THINK to get the correct answers!

In math, we practiced our fact fluency, using Math Magician. Then, we looked at coins, their names, and their values. We'll begin counting coins tomorrow.

In science, we connected our soils unit to how we live each day. We talked about living and nonliving. We made a Venn diagram to compare and contrast living and nonliving things. Then, we made a T-chart to list examples of living and nonliving things.

Monday, Jan. 9

This morning, we copied our spelling words and wrote sentences in our notebooks. Mrs. Bruno rearranged our desks into four groups of five. We worked in partners to determine values of shapes in our Shapes in a Grid activity. We went to Mrs. Johnson's room and read our Storytown books. This week's story is "George Washington Carver." He is famous for working at Tuskeegee University (in our state of Alabama) to develop new ways to use the potato and peanut plants.

Today was also the day that we DIBELed with Mrs. O'Connor. Mrs. Bruno is looking forward to seeing how much our scores improved from the beginning of the year. We're about to head to PE.

WELCOME BACK!!

We're excited to be back at school. We started the day telling each other about our Christmas breaks. We told our favorite toy and why we were glad to be headed back to school. We shared our papers with our friends.

The class combined with Mrs. Johnson's class to do a KWL chart about soils. We talked about soil and why it might be important to us. We investigated worms and drew a diagram of them. This afternoon we'll continue our soils unit. What fun!!!!!
